Today I am starting a new blog chapter called „Tricity inspires”, where I will share my knowledge and tips with everyone who is interested in (or even have not thought about) planning a destination wedding in Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia area.
Why? I truly believe that the Polish seaside is a wonderful place to say „I do!” – even if You do not have any Polish roots or connections.
So the first article would actually be the proof to these words as today I will name You 10 arguments why the Tricity area (Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia) is a perfect place for Your destination wedding. Shall we start?
1. Three cities in one
As the name „Tricity” says – Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia are three cities and each of them offers a totally different experience for everyone. When planning a destination wedding, You and Your family and friends would spend at least 3 days in the area – so it is important to invite people to a place where they can have some sightseeing and fun.
Gdansk ranked as number 3 on the 20 European Best Destinations in 2017 will show You the picturesque streets shapen by over a thousand years’ history on one hand and crude industrial shipyards – home of the Solidarity – on the other.
Sopot will welcome You with elegant villas, cosy cafes and restaurants, plenty of beach-club areas, where You can spend a lazy day with a glass of prosecco. But at night You will know its’ wild nature where thousands of clubbers will crowd its streets.
Gdynia – the city with just 90 years of history has its unique young spirit offering great restaurants with good fusion cuisine, modernist architecture and interaction with the happiest people in Poland (no kidding -for several years now Gdynia is being ranked as number 1 among Polish cities as far as the level of happiness is concerned).
2. The seaside
Somone will say „a cliche”, but let’s be honest – most brides (and obviously some grooms) have been dreaming (at least once!) about a seaside ceremony. And although Polish seaside does not offer 40+ degrees through the whole summer, it’s mild climate is something that brides and grooms (and guests!) appreciate.

3. On the land – and on the deck
A ceremony on the beach? Yes! But why to stay on the land? All three cities – Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia have marines in their very city centres! If You want to be creative and seasickness is not Your thing – invite them for a beautiful ceremony on a yacht!
4. Broad choice of wedding venues
From 5 star hotels with glamourous ballrooms through modern restaurants on the seafront, shipyard halls with industrial panorama and banquet halls located in stables to farmhouses hidden somewhere in the forest and much more. Tricity has it all to offer a different style of venues and everyone will find something close to their hearts. 5. Broad choice of good wedding vendors
Talented photographers to catch the best memories of Your wedding day, English-speaking DJ’s and bands to bring real fun to Your party, gifted florists and decorators to create an amazing scenery, makeup artists and hairdressers to pamper You at You Big Day and not to mention professional wedding planners 😉 The whole team is there for You to make Your dream day come true!
6. Rich hotel base
Here in Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia area, You will find hotels for every taste and…pocket. Art deco, modern, loft from no-star to 5 stars resorts with SPA and private access to the beach. This point is very important when inviting friends to celebrate Your special day abroad.
7. Convenient flight connection to European cities
The romantic atmosphere is very important, but what can literally ruin Your destination wedding is logistics. This is not the case if Tricity is concerned. International Gdansk Airport offers flight connections with more than 60 big cities in Europe, especially to United Kingdon, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands and Germany.
8. Easy to communicate in English
When planning a wedding, You are going to hire at least 5 vendors (and around 10 in most cases) so communication is extremely important. Not only with regards to communicating Your requirements, but also concerning the terms and conditions of the contracts being signed. Of course, not all vendors provide contacts in English, but in case You consider hiring a wedding planner, in most cases, they will negotiate and sign contracts on Your behalf.
9. Time to travel
Not only the possibility of direct fly-in is the advantage, but also the fact, that it will take You up to 3 hours in most cases.
I hope all the above made You consider Tricity area as Your perfect wedding destination. But, the 10th argument is the most important – Couples who already said „I do!” here are planning to be back with a reunion party 😉
